Meet Our Team

These wonderful humans make it all happen.

Deanna Hagen
Founder/Chair/Executive Director

I have dedicated my life to serving my community, showing kindness and compassion to people in need.  In 2015 I recognized a technology barrier that families and children faced while they were receiving life saving treatment in the hospital, therefore, it was a natural fit to begin iKare4Kids. Seeing the joy that iKare4Kids brings these children is so rewarding!

Audrey McAmmond
Vice-Chair/Fundraiser Coordinator

Volunteering is my heart and soul! I believe that a child should have every opportunity to be happy and carefree, the same way they came into this world. Therefore, if by donating an iPad or tablet, I have eased a little bit of their thinking about their pain, meds and the tubes they’re dealing with I have helped in a small way.

Adria Brochu

Director/Donation Coordinator

I was first introduced to iKare4Kids back in 2020 as I had devices to donate. As a retired military veteran and former registered nurse, and now also a volunteer with Alberta Children’s Hospital, I get to consistently witness how important technology and devices are when it comes to pediatric health care. For some, it can be truly life changing.

Melissa Moir

Business Development Executive

Volunteering for iKare4Kids is a privilege and honour. Rooted in connection and compassion, my values align with  such a worthwhile cause and amazing group of people serving children experiencing a challenging medical journey. Providing support and connection to those in their time of need is so worthwhile and rewarding.

Christine Dmytriw

Secretary/Director

I love to keep busy, and having a wonderful spouse and 3 amazing daughters gives me plenty to appreciate. I have been working in law enforcement for 22 years in various roles, and enjoy bringing a sense of comfort to people where I can. I donate my time where I can. Then, fitting in some hobbies like scrapbooking, puzzles and sudoku completes my circle of happiness!

Jenna Dmytriw

Administrative Support

I am starting my third year of university studying chemistry at the UofA. I love watching the Oilers, playing soccer and enjoy doing puzzles and spending time with friends and family. I volunteer to help take away some stress from children and families going through hard times

Stu Borgstrom
Treasurer

I was former pilot in the Armed Forces and then worked as a Telecommunications Technologist for 44 years, spending most of that time with the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission and the Edmonton Police Service. I have been an avid enthusiast participating in sports and also volunteered coaching minor hockey and soccer. I am more of a spectator today and relegated to low impact activities. I am a former member of the St. Albert Kinsmen and a present member of the Lions Club of Leduc, and have also donated my time with the Leduc Food Bank.

Stanice Markham
Marketing and Communications Coordinator

I am a philanthropist, entrepreneur, and travel lover! I worked as a crisis intervention worker in a women’s shelter for 8 years and quickly learned the value of support in your community. I am the founder of 100 Women Who Care, and support many Edmonton-based charities and non profits. I am proud to say that they gave over $100,000 to 75 charities. Along with being an active Board Member of Crystal Kids, I also started my own travel business and love planning everyone’s special trips.

Jeannette Giesbrecht

Chair/Director

I have been an active volunteer for nearly 50 years, starting as a Candy Striper in my teens to Chair of the iKare4Kids board. My volunteer involvement has ranged from politics and music to sports and health, but working with the passionate and dedicated iKare4Kids team is definitely one of the most fulfilling undertakings.
